LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!  A Marriage Retreat

August 29 - 30, 2009: St. Bendict's Center

Build upon the skills you already have for communicating with others! This retreat  will address attitudes and habits that get in the way of intimacy and friendship in  marriage and provide skills for effectively understanding one another and resolving  conflict without hurting one another. Based on a Christian spirituality of marriage,  the retreat offers talks, private couple time, prayer and fun. Includes opportunity for  Mass and Confession.

Laura Baum-Parr, coordinator, Marriage and Family Ministries, Family Life Office, Archdiocese of Omaha, and co-author of Welcome Your Child. John Parr, cocoordinator at our yearly Father Son Retreats, facilitates together with Laura  marriage preparation for engaged couples. Also presenting at this retreat are Kory  and Julie Delkamiller, experienced directors of marriage retreats. Join them for  this delightful time away when you’ll have the chance to deepen your awareness of  the importance of communicating well with your spouse!  (click here for registration and other information)

A Word to the Wise about "Taking the Bait" from the Media

Remember, be cautious about what you see and hear; particularly things are alarmist and/or reactionary.  Listen to a variety of sources. Be grounded in your faith and understanding.  Consider strategies that are available to you.  Well-intended reactions may cause undue interest, misdirection and lend unwarranted legitimacy to groups who want attention and easy rewards.
